During 2020, I had a moment of reckoning. Not sure where you were, but if you are anything like me you felt untethered. Disconnected. Uncertain.
My anxiety came back in full force and my recovery felt unsteady.
Instead of reaching for the unhealthy coping mechanisms I had in the past (like alcohol, drugs, relationships, and more), I reached out for support and started doing things that brought be joy, energy, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Feeling stuck in my story, and in the larger story of a hurting world, while challenging ultimately became an opportunity.
Have you ever felt stuck in your story? Have you ever felt desperately on the edge of something, ready, yet unsure where to start?
Several years ago, writing became like my long-lost best friend. Pen in hand, a new calling was forming (or an old one circling back again). I rediscovered the healing power of stories. I also became motivated to not only write stories but share them.
Since then, I've spent hundreds of hours researching the writing and publishing process, learning how unique the writing journey can be for those of us who are also in recovery.
I've connected with other experts in the field, discovered new insights about the changing landscape of publishing, and found incredible resources that helped me find purpose and renew my recovery.
Did you know that purpose is one of the main dimensions of recovery?
My next published book is coming out soon and I've got a couple more in the works. I've learned about the ins and outs of the writing and publishing journey and also bring my professional expertise as a technical writer and consultant for federal agencies on recovery and mental health topics. In this season, I feel called to not only live out my purpose but help you discover yours.
How can we share our stories in a way that can help share hope and help support another person's journey? How can we ask tough questions and challenge stigmatizing attitudes? How can we shed light on what happens in the beautiful spaces of recovery in all its varying forms? How can we move from stuckness to purpose?
Are you feeling alone in your calling of writing about recovery?
Are you looking for a community of like-minded folks to share ideas, support each other, and get honest feedback on your writing?
Announcing WRITE RECOVERY! This series of courses and community will provide invaluable insight and practical tools that will help you to fulfill your goal of writing and publishing your book!
Over the past several years since re-starting my personal writing recovery journey, two of the top questions I get from this community are these:
How do I write and publish my recovery story?
How can I make writing a part of my recovery?
Along with this, I’ve been asked countless times about the publishing process, how to get an agent, if you even need an agent, and other questions about the nitty-gritty details of writing and publishing.
I’ve spent countless hours (and money) on learning about how this process works, specifically for those interested in writing recovery. I’d like to share with you what I’ve learned so that more recovery stories can be shared with the world.
Did you know that the more we hear recovery stories, the more stigma is decreased and the more stigma is decreased, the more people reach out for help.
What is Write Recovery?

When you invest in something, you are saying that it is worthwhile and valuable. You also value my time, my team, and all of the experts I invite to share with us. You are also investing in yourself. And let me tell you that investing in yourself is invaluable.
