As a part of this glorious community, I wanted you all to be the first to know about the 3rd annual International Women’s Day Event presented by the SHE RECOVERS Foundation in honor of recovery.
Rising Rooted: Redefining Recovery With the Next Generation in honor of International Women’s Day.
Rise with us on March 8, 2024.
In 2021 I had a vision to bring together women from around the world to celebrate recovery and share recovery stories. We were still in the deep unknowns of pandemic life, well acquainted with the virtual world, and aching for connection.
I started calling women leaders I knew in the recovery space in the U.S. and then I started reaching out to women from other countries, too.
The response was overwhelming. A resounding “yes, let’s do this,” prevailed.
We are all aching for connection.
As good things often do, the event grew up (quickly) and I knew that it needed a home that could support it in all of its beauty and awkward growing pains.
The SHE RECOVERS Foundation now breathes life into the event every year with its passionate, creative, intuitive, fierce, and lovely team. I am so honored to continue to be a part of planning and hosting the free and open event [everyone is welcome] and working with this impactful organization.
This International Women’s Day, join us and the change-makers of today to explore how we can ensure the next and future generations rise rooted in recovery! Let’s listen to youth stories and talk about early intervention opportunities for young women including group support programs, recovery communities, personal development, recovery education, and recovery practices that focus on holistically healing the mind, body, emotions, and spirit.
We need to listen to the next generation.
Become an Ambassador: this is a *free* way for your organization or business to network and share in the mission of the event. Click here and complete the brief form to let me know you are interested.
Volunteer: there are many ways for individuals (including youth) to get involved. Let me know if you’d like to learn more about volunteer opportunities!
Young women are telling us that what they need most is identity-based resources, professionals who understand the imperative of finding and following their own individualized pathways and patchworks of recovery, and peer-supported opportunities for connection. The National Institute of Mental Health reports that early intervention for mental health issues in young women can lead to improved outcomes, including reduced symptoms, improved functioning, and better quality of life.
We need to start supporting the next generation now.
We know that ease of access to resources and support substantially increases the next generation’s chance of realizing long-term recovery. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy says, “given the significant health consequences of loneliness and isolation, we must prioritize building social connection the same way we have prioritized other critical public health issues such as tobacco and substance use.”
This event is free and anyone is welcome. Check out the event page (still under a wee-bit of construction) to learn more and I hope to see you there.
In other news…
I’m working on something fabulous and am looking to build my team. Contact me if you are looking to build your resume, are passionate about all things writing and recovery, or are just curious because you’ve been following along for a while.
